OSCAR RANT 2015

Oscars 2015 aired on Sunday, February 22, 2015, 8:30 pm
Host: Neil Patrick Harris

Opening Ceremony: the set was gorgeous and very classic.  Reflected the black and white era.
Costumes were beautiful as they spanned all genres.  The shadows done with the spotlight was spectacular.

Bradley Cooper brought his mother as his guest as always. Guess his 20 year old girlfriend was at day care.

Rosamund Pike's scalloped trimmed red dress was very elegant.

Best Supporting Actor presented by last year's actress winner Lupita Nyong'o.  Don't love her white beaded gown. It looks too bulky.  Winner is J.K. Simmons.  I always like when a first timer wins, especially one that has been in the business for a long time and went unrecognized.

Adam Levine performs "Lost Stars".  Very nice.

Jennifer Lopez presents "Best Costume".  Her nude color dress is dazzling and flowy, nice beading detail but too revealing on top for the Oscars if you ask me.  Does she own a bra? Cover up! "Grand Budapest Hotel" wins. Well deserved, costumes were so original and colorful.

Keira Knightly's beige floral flowy dress was a major error as usual.

Reese Witherspoon's black and white dress is simple but I like it.  Most the time, less is more.
"Grand Budapest" also takes home Best Make-Up. Awesome. This movie is doing so well for a March release!

I do not like Nicole Kidman's dress. Shiny white with a big ugly red belt.  Like she does karate.

Marion Cotillard's polka dot white dress is horrible! Worst dressed.

So many presenter's have stammered on their words.

Viola Davis' giant pale pink dress has too many folds.  The color and the jewelry are all wrong.

Gwyneth Paltrow's pink dress is nice.  I don't mind the rose shoulder. Th earrings are too much though.

Tim McGraw performs "I'm Not Gunna Miss You" from the Glenn Campbell biopic.  Very sad song about Alzheimer's.

Neil Patrick Harris appears in his underwear.  I don't get it, it's dumb and unprofessional for the Oscars.

Don't love Emma Stone's lime green sequin dress.

Gotta love Jared Leto for his original pale blue tux but he needs to groom his hair and beard.  Enough of the Jesus look.  He presents "Best Supporting Actress" to Patricia Arquette.  Her black and white dress is forgettable, love her reading glasses, loved her speech about equal wages for women.  Streep loved it too as she got all "rowdy" with JLo.

Zoe Saldana's warm pink form fitting dress is very stunning.  "The Rock's" warm navy suit is also stunning. They present "Best Animated" film.  Surprised "Lego Movie" wasn't nominated.  But "Big Hero 6" won which isn't a huge surprise cause it's Disney.

Love Felicity Jones' high collar grey dress.  Wish her hair was as elaborate as her dress.  "Grand Budapest" hotel wins production design.

Laura Dern in a heavy metal looking dress looks brilliant.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Jessica Chastain's navy sequined topped dress. Simple necklace and hair. Impeccable.  She loves blue.

Meryl Streep wears a simple black skirt with belt, black tux jacket, and white v-neck blouse.  She's Meryl, she can wear whatever she wants.  Quotes Joan Didion by saying "A Single person is missing for you and the whole world is empty". Sounds about right to me.  A sad tribute to those we have lost in 2014, especially Robin Williams.  Screw the academy for leaving out Joan Rivers. There were executives on the list  but they leave out her....SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Naomi Watts' silver and black sequin dress with the black sequin tube top! Super hot! Best Dressed.

Jennifer Aniston's tan beaded dress is alluring and David Oyelowo's maroon tux is a breath of fresh air. different.

Song "Glory" by John Legend and Common is very moving. I see David Oyelowo and Chris Pine shed tears.  They win for "best song".

Idina Menzel presents "best song" with the man that completely screwed up her name last year, John Travolta (Hair piece and all).

LOVE Scarlett Johansson's emerald green dress. Love the neckline.

Lady Gaga in big white dress with thick rubber red gloves. Don't mind dress and hair flowers.  Needs more make-up, hair style and lose the gloves. I could have passed on her singing for Julie Andrews but I know Andrews  has Parkinson's and can't preform.  I would have preferred Adele since she is wonderful, also British and won an oscar for "Sky Fall". "Grand Budapest" wins best score and deserves it.

Eddie Murphy presents Best Original Screenplay: goes to "Birdman" Alejando Gonzalez Inarritu.

Oprah looks good and round in her nude colored dress with long sleeves. She presents "Best Adapted Screenplay"  to "The Imitation Game" .

Ben Affleck looks great and presents "Best Director" to Alejando Gonzalez Inarritu for "Birdman".

I love Cate Blancett's all black dress with the turquoise stoned necklace. She is presenting "Best Actor" to Eddie Redmayne for the "The Theory of Everything" in which he plays Stephen Hawking.  He speaks out for everyone suffering from ALS. (which my uncle has and makes me cry a river.)

Matthew McConaughey presents for "Best Actress"  He also looks like his former cast mate Jared Leto and needs a shave and a haircut.  Julianne Moore wins for "Still Alice" playing a woman with Alzheimer's.  She has been nominated several times and never won so I am glad she finally has. I don't like her white dress with the big black stoned trim.  The trim is fine on the chest but after that it is ill-fitting in the placement.  I don't think I have ever liked a dress this woman has worn.

Sean Penn presents "Best Picture" to Alejando Gonzalez Inarritu  for "Birdman".  Penn makes an off color joke I don't mind. Everyone needs to lighten up. He and the director are old chums from "21 Grams". Win is  shocking since "Boyhood" won everything else.

all around good show.
