Movie Adaptations You Didn't Know Were From Books

If the movie is named "To Kill a Mockingbird" it's obvious what book the movie is adapted from.  This blog is about movies you may not know where its origin is from because the title is so different.   I love surprising people with the fact that the amazing movie they just saw was originally an even more amazing book.


"Ad Astra" is loosely based on "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad.

"A.I. Artificial Intelligence" is loosely based on "Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi

"Adaptation" is an adaptation of of Susan Orlean's book "The Orchid Thief".

"Agnes Browne" is an adaptation of a great novel called "The Mammy" by Brendan O'Carroll.

"Apocalypse Now" is an adaptation of the book "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad.

"August Rush" is a spin on "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens.

"Bedazzled" is a spin on the German legend "Faust".

"Blade Runner" is an adaptation of Philip K. Dick's sci-fi novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
