Golden Globe Rant aired Jan. 12, 2014
Pre-show:
90 minutes before showtime some pipe breaks on the red carpet and there is dark colored water flooding the red carpet. Quick rush to shut it off and clean it up.
6:45pm Do not like Kaley Cuoco's dark pastel corset dress. Amy Adams' duel red dress is pretty. Lena Dunham's bust-line doesn't fit. The yellow color is horrible! Brings out all the flaws. I'm no size one and neither is Adele but we know when to wear black.
6:59pm Don't like Giuliana's red ballet dress. It's like an old lady tea dress meets tortured ballerina. Kerry Washington's pale green pregnancy gown is beautiful. Julianna Margulies black and gold dress is not so fab.
7:18pm Melissa McCarthy's black and silver stripped dress is awesome! Very appropriate for her body. Love it. So much better than previous years.
7:25pm Olivia Wilde looks like her green sequin dress is painted on. She looks happy and pregnant. Paula Patton's white puffy dress is disastrous. She can't even walk in it.
7:27 pm Drew Barrymore's flower covered dress is hoooorrible. I don't care if she is pregnant. She looks silly. Julia Roberts' dress looks like she's going to an office meeting. Black dress with a collared shirt...BAD.
7:29pm Jennifer Lawrence's white dress is lovely...just like her. Her "billion" dollar bracelet fell off while being interviewed. She's so down to earth.
7:40pm Zooey Deschanel's two piece white dress is very bad and doesn't fit. Her hair is too cutesy. Her wardrobe is always questionable.
7:43pm Rita Wilson's navy flapper-like dress is very pretty. Sometimes, she misses the mark but today is a good day. She has the best accessory ever....Tom Hanks.
7:50pm Tina Fey's red carpet rose patterned dress is too much. I dislike it. Zoe Saldana's dress looks like a school craft project. Too much! YUKE! Sofia Vergara looks great and simple, as always.
7:55pm Don't like Elizabeth Moss' red print dress. Edie Falco looks like she is wrapped as a belated Christmas present.
8:01pm Tina Fey and Amy Poehler's first host dresses are beautiful. Fey in maroon and Poehler in green.
8:05pm Julia Louie-Dreyfus smokes a blue cigarette and the Clooney joke about him killing himself rather than being with a woman his age was great.
8:11pm love Sandra Bullock's multi-colored pink, black and blue dress. Go Jennifer Lawrence! She won for a second year in a row.
8:13 pm love Mila Kunis' gray sequin dress.
8:22pm Do not like Naomi Watts' silver straight dress. Lose the gold necklace. "Behind the Candelabra" won best made-for t.v. movie. It deserved it.
8:39pm Bryan Cranston won for "Breaking Bad. He was awesome. "Breaking Bad" won best drama series and it deserved that, obviously. Nice way to celebrate the end of an excellent series.
8:49pm Kate Beckinsale's silver dress is slick. A beautiful silver sequin patterned dress. It looks like it weighs a million pounds.
9:09pm Amy Adams won best actress for "American Hustle". She is very talented.
9:19pm Robin Wright won for Netflix's first show "House of Cards". She was so happy but you could see the breast tape for her dress. Embarrassing.
9:30pm Emma Thompson comes out with no shoes and a cocktail so funny. She says the red soles of her Louboutin shoes are her blood. She looks beautiful. She throws her shoes to open the envelope. Greatest moment.
9:31pm Laura Dern's dress is amazing. She looks so fit.
9:34pm Andy Sandberg wins for "Brooklyn 99". He is very funny. Good start for the show.
9:41pm Orlando Bloom is very drunk on stage. Swaying.
9:45pm Michael Douglas wins for "Behind the Candelabra" . He played a great Liberace.
9:52pm Emma Watson is tippsy on stage.
9:58pm Amy Poehler wins for "Parks and Recreations". She was so nervous and surprised.
10:02pm Emma Stone's two piece dress is horrible. No one should have let her out of the house like that.
10:10pm Diane Keaton accepts the Cecil B. DeMille award for Woody Allen wearing her usual black suit..a nod to "Annie Hall". Awkward. He doesn't show up...no surprise. She sings on stage. weird...just so weird
10:17pm best director goes to Alfonso Cuaron wins for "Gravity".
10:20pm Uma Thurman looks awesome in her black dress.
10:29pm Leonardo DiCaprio wins his second golden globe for "Wolf of Wall Street". Even he is nervous. Brought his mom as a guest since he won't ever settle down.
10:38pm "American Hustle" wins best comedy.
10:45pm Cate Blanchett wins best actress for "Blue Jasmine". She is amazing always.
10:57pm Best drama picture "12 years a Slave" wins.
I thought there would be a memorial piece. I guess not. I wish there was more Fey and Poehler.
